Previous Attempts

  • The UNโ€™s Attempts: In 2000, the United Nations launched the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress, and Punish Trafficking in Persons, which established a victim-centered approach to trafficking. It has since been signed by 177 countries.

  • Blue Heart Campaign: Launched by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Blue Heart Campaign is an awareness-raising initiative to fight human trafficking, including refugees.

  • OTHERS: Several NGOs and government agencies are having discussions on the topic although some of them are remarkable; IOM (International Organization for Migrants), National Legislation and Law Enforcement, and EASO (European Union Agency for Asylum).
